9:00 a.m. - 5:00 P.m. Monday- Saturday and 12:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. on Sundays (November-February)
We are closed or will close early on all major holidays. Please keep in mind that due to the nature (heh, get it? Nature?) of our business, we may close early due to weather conditions. You may want to call before you head to our store on days when weather is questionable. We may close early on occasion due to employee meetings.

Where are you located?
10682 Bandera Road San Antonio, Tx 78250. You can find us at the corner of Bandera and New Prue (next to Walgreens and behind Auto Glide Express Carwash), 2 stoplights inside Loop 1604. Need more directions? Click here!

Where are the carts?
Silver, two level push carts with child seats are at the front of the nursery near the main parking lot. Pull carts are underneath tables and out and about. Hand baskets are also available just inside the store near the registers.

It's 9:01 a.m. and your back gate on Prue Rd. is closed. What the heck?
Oops, sorry about that. Sometimes we forget or run a little late. If we're here, our main gate on Bandera Rd. is always open.

It's 5:46 p.m. and your back gate on Prue Rd. is closed. What the heck?
Sorry about that. The back gate closes 15 minutes prior to closing time at 6 p.m. If we are still here, our main gate on Bandera Rd. is still open, but we may be on our way out!

Can you hold plants for me?
Sorry, we cannot hold plants without payment.

Can I pay for plants and pick them up at a later date?
Yes, we will hold plants that are paid for up to ten days. It is best that you come in to physically select the plants that you want, rather than paying over the phone. We also offer delivery and installation.

Can I pay for plants over the phone?
Yes, although we highly recommend coming in to see what you are actually purchasing instead. Gift cards may also be purchased by phone and mailed to a recipient.

What type of credit cards do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards in addition to cash and checks.

Return Policy

What is your return policy?
Please keep your receipt! NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT A RECEIPT. Credit card and bank statements will not be accepted. Plants can only be returned or exchanged if they are in the same condition as they were at purchase. We cannot be responsible for over or under watering of plants.

RETURNS CANNOT BE MADE ON STRESSED OR DEAD PLANTS. If the plant/product is returned within 24 hours with receipt, your money will be issued back to you. If it is returned after 24 hours, but within 30 days of original purchase, it may be exchanged or we will issue a store credit for the amount that was purchased. No returns on plants sold to landscape contractors. No returns of any opened hard goods.

Why can't I bring back stressed or dead plants? The box stores let me do it!
Unfortunately, we cannot compete with chain stores like Lowes and Home Depot. Because they have such tremendous buying power, they are able to buy their plants on consignment and the supplier is only paid when a plant is scanned at the register. It's called pay by scan. When a customer returns dead plants to the store, the supplier has to give the chain store credit. This practice has forced some great growers to go out of business.

As a Mom & Pop independent nursery, we must pay for every plant whether it sells or not. That means that we take extra special care of our plants to prevent loss. Also, life is just not guaranteed!

Plants are living organisms and gardening is a hobby that requires experimentation, patience and practice. If you have any questions or concerns about your plants, please don't hesitate to ask. And remember, even the best gardeners lose plants sometimes!

Coupons, Discounts and Gift Cards

Do you have gift cards?
Yup. They are available in any denomination. No fees and they never expire!

Do you replace lost/stolen gift cards?
No, please treat your gift card like cash and keep them in a safe location.

I'm from out of state, can I call and buy a gift card for someone in San Antonio?
Yes, we can keep the gift card at the store for them to pick up or we can mail it for you.

Do you offer a senior citizen, military or master gardener discount?
No, we like to keep our prices fair for everyone. However we do have coupons and specials from time to time.

What is Your Coupon Policy?
Coupons must be presented and turned in at time of purchase. They may not be rainchecked or redeemed after the original purchase has been made.  We cannot be combine coupons with any other offer or sale items.

Getting Help

It's a busy spring day and I have been holding on the phone foreverrrrrrr, stuff hasn't been loaded in my car yet, the line to checkout is crazy long and I lost the guy that was helping me!
Please bear with us! We appreciate your patience during this hectic time. We understand that you are in a hurry to get your planting done! Please be aware that on a busy spring day there are only so many employees to go around at one time. We always try to do our very best to answer all of your questions, load your stuff up and help make your garden successful!

OK, so how do I take care of the stuff I just bought?
Here are our recommendations for watering your new plants:
•Check container plants  at least once daily (in summer sometimes twice a day).
•Perennials/Annuals/Shrubs that are planted in the ground should be watered 2-3x per week, 3-5 minutes by hand regularly for the first year.
•Trees need watering 2-3x per week, 3-5 minutes by hand regularly for the first year.
•Palms/Succulents/Cactus need water once a week, 3-5 minutes by hand.
If you have any questions or concerns , please do not hesitate to call us!

Can I E-Mail you a picture of my tree/yard/flower with some questions that I have?
It's much better to bring us a sample so that we can better look at, touch, smell and taste...well maybe not that last one.

How do I sign up for your E-mail newsletter?
Fill out the form online or come in and fill out a slip at out the counter. Our newsletter comes out every two weeks.

Why should I shop at an independent nursery like The Garden Center, rather than at a box store?
We are experts in our field. We train our employees. Our staff selects the very best plants from local growers that we know will do well in our area. Our plants are top quality and receive the absolute best care. We can answer any of your gardening questions. Plants are all we do. We don't sell electrical, plumbing or hardware. We sell plants, fertilizers and gardening success!
